INTRODUCING “The Film Lab” — A COLLABORATION BETWEEN QCFF & THE MOVIE BREWDIO

Allegany Allied Arts, Inc., is pleased to announce a new collaboration between the Queen City Film Festival (QCFF) and The Movie Brewdio, “The Film Lab.” “The Film Lab” will be a monthly gathering bringing together film professionals, patrons, and fans. Each meeting will feature a guest speaker and a short screening block. Every first Monday* from 6-9pm (speaker at 7pm) at Oscar’s Restaurant, 1103 E Oldtown Rd, Cumberland, Maryland 21502.

For the first gathering on February 6, we will be introducing Allegany Allied Arts and the team behind the Queen City Film Festival (QCFF), and The Movie Brewdio and the team behind The Movie Brewdio Podcast with JW & Karl.

Allegany Allied Arts, Inc., produces the annual Queen City Film Festival (QCFF). Founded in 2012 and currently in its sixth year, QCFF 2017 will be held October 5-8 at The Venue At Mezzos, 114 S. Centre St. in Cumberland, Maryland.

David Rorabaugh is the President of Allegany Allied Arts, and also Festival Director for the Queen City Film Festival since 2012.

Eve Soliz is the Treasurer of Allegany Allied Arts, and has previously programmed shorts blocks in Kids/Family, Animation, LGBT, and Music.

The Movie Brewdio was created by Frostburg native and filmmaker JW Myers. In addition to producing Feature Films and Podcasts, Mr. Myers also teaches Film Acting Workshops, Advanced Improvisation Training, and Camera Acting for Children.

JW Myers grew up in Frostburg, graduated with a B.A. in Theater from Frostburg State University, and then spent the next two decades in New York and Los Angeles, writing, performing, and directing film and television. JW has produced and directed several feature films, including “The Pledge,” “A Christmas Tree Miracle,” “Special School,” and “Flamingo Dreams.” JW serves as Adjunct Faculty at Frostburg State University, teaching a class in Acting For the Camera. Locally, he also teaches Television Production for teens at MCCA (Mountain City Center for the Arts) in Frostburg, and “Improv with JW at Queen City Playhouse” in Cumberland.

Podcasting partner Karl Brubaker comes to The Movie Brewdio Podcast with a diverse set of skills and experience. A broadcast industry veteran, Karl has done everything from run morning-drive radio programming to director of news to writing and producing award-winning production for clients. Karl has extensive experience with marketing and public relations and specialized in working with nonprofit organizations. Karl is also a veteran of the stage, having acted and directed over twenty regional stage productions.
